Kent Molen

A proud member of Voiture 402, Kent was born and raised in a small town in southeastern Indiana, Moores Hill Indiana. Moores Hill was so small that it was only open three days a week. He grew up in a loving home with one sister. Upon graduating from high school he worked in a portrait studio before enlisting in the Air Force, January 1951. In July 1951 was married to the love of his life, Jean. Shortly thereafter was sent to England then to Scotland, fortunately Jean was able to join him in the British Isles. Kent and Jean have three children, Chris, Jane and Michael. Chris being born in England and Jane in Scotland. Discharged from the Air Force after serving four years, the little family of four returned to Indiana, where two years later Michael was born. In 1959 Kent joined the Television News team of WCPO TV in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he spent eleven enjoyable years climbing from a staff photographer to film editor.
Kent first joined the American Legion soon after being discharged from the Air Force in 1954 and would be a 52 year member if he had not let his membership drop when he moved to Florida in 1975 and being reinstated a few years later. He has held every office in the American Legion except Commander. In 2004 was named Legionnaire of the Year.
As a Voyageur Kent has held several position in the Locale, including Correspondant 5 years, before holding the office of Chef de Gare in 2003/04 and was named Voyageur of the Year in 2005/06. At the Grand level he has served as Grand Cheminot, Sous Conducteur, Sous Correspondant, Garde de la Porte and two terms as Chef de Train. Kent has been the L’Editeur of the Georgia on Track for five years and is webmaster of the Grand du Georgia website. At the National level serving as Sous Conducteur, Sous Directeur of Public Relations two years and Aide de Camp to the Current Chef de Chemin de Fer, Terry Sims 2006/07.
Kent says, “I love La Societe and I pledge to serve as Grand Chef de Gare to the very best of my ability”.
